Activities for families

Devon is a wonderful place for a family holiday, whatever age your children might be. Here are a few ideas to help your planning.

• Woodlands Family Theme Park is opposite the entrance to the Dartmouth Hotel so takes no more than 2 minutes to reach. You could walk there but please be very careful on the main road. Woodlands is the largest theme park in Devon with indoor and outdoor play areas including water rides, a zoo farm, play areas for toddlers and others for young teen agers. • There are two steam train railways nearby
• South Devon Railway which runs from Totnes to Buckfastleigh along the banks of the River Dart. www.southdevonrailway.co.uk
• Dartmouth Steam Railway round robin - a trip from Dartmouth to Paignton on the steam train, Paignton to Totnes by open top bus and Totnes to Dartmouth by river boat on the River Dart. www.dartmouthrailriver.co.uk
  
• There are several beaches near to Kestrel. Try Slapton Sands (6 miles) or Blackpool Sands (5 miles) or Paignton Beach (16 miles)
